Job Description

Research Fellow position is available at the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in the National University of Singapore (NUS). The research area is focused on the development of environmentally benign technology for the recovery of platinum group metals (PGM) from spent catalysts (automotive and petrochemical) using novel biological and biochemical pathways.

The position holder will be responsible for conducting literature review, formulating methodologies, performing lab experiments to recover PGM from leachate, and communicating the findings in peer-reviewed journals/patent filings. You will be responsible for developing the technology to separate and purify PGM from leachate, validating the technology in a lab-scale reactor for process scale-up, and piloting to produce refined PGM with high purity.

Job Requirements

The candidate must hold a PhD degree in Chemical Engineering with specialisation in the areas of sustainability, biorecovery, bioleaching, bioreduction, and bioaccumulation. The candidate must hold an excellent track record in publishing research papers in top tier journals with high impact factor. The candidate must have filed at least one patent (pending or granted) as a primary inventor in the area of precious metals recovery.
